I was in need of some crocheting last weekend so I came up with a little project. Just finished this morning. Here it is:

Moving On

It looks like our time living on Sheridan Road is quickly coming to an end. Yanni accepted a job offer in Minnesota so we will be moving out February 8th. While we are very excited to be moving on, it will be sad leaving the city and our little apartment!

Friday

Chicago is getting a lot of snow today. So much so that my work closed an hour early..I guess this means an early start to the weekend! I tried to get a pic of the snow but with the sun setting I wasn't getting a good shot. 

Instead here are some pics of my next project-a Granny Strip blanket I started last spring. I keep these projects in bags to protect them from all of Cookie's hair.

 

I'm hoping to add several more rows and add a fun boarder. 

Cookie is still in love with Horton..

Fudge Brownies

I found this recipe on Martha Stewart. It was pretty easy but I used all purpose flour instead of whole wheat pastry flour-sorry Martha!

One sweet potato

Cocoa and butter

 flour, egg, sugar and baking powder

vanilla extract, instant coffee and cocoa/butter mix

Voila! 

Minnesota

We made a trip back to Minnesota. I have a bad habit of not taking pics on trips! We had a great time though-spent a lot of time relaxing, visited Chez Arnaud (my favorite!), and tried a Greek restaurant ( It's Greek to Me) in Uptown. It's amazing how vacation time flies.

While we were back, I finally FINISHED the Flowers in the Snow blanket. 

I also went through my bedroom at home and did some serious cleaning. Cookie found Horton in my room and fell in love..

I also ran to Michael's to pick up wool and tried felting for the first time. It's kinnda fun throwing your project into the wash and then waiting to see the results..

I love it! Decided to make another one too :)

In the crafting spirit, I purchased some quilted mason jars from Fleet Farm and have some fun plans for these..

 We drove back to Chicago last night. There's a lot more snow in Chicago than Minneapolis.  Cookie is back to her usual self-napping..with Horton.  

Couponing

 One of my goals for 2012 is to become a better couponer/shopper. After doing a little research I found a website to help with this goal: couponmom.com  When you sign up (it's free) they email shopping lists from stores including Target, CVS, Walmart etc with the best deals and which coupons to use.. I got this deal at CVS today: 4 Nivea chapsticks for free and even made a dollar off the purchase!
